Fileteado or filete is a graphic expression from late 19th century born in Buenos Aires, Argentina to embellish carts. Its organic motifs and lines, and metal imitation stylization were a common part of signs and buses during 20th century.

When I made this font in 2009, there were still many buses in Buenos Aires displaying phrases and drawings made by filete artists, so I used those as inspiration for it. It's not very polished (you'll see some kerning problems on many pairings) but I found it recently in my archive and I'm very fond of the result.

Fileteado o filete es una expresión gráfica que nació a principio del siglo XIX en Buenos Aires para decorar carros de transporte de animales. Sus líneas y motivos orgánicos y su estilización que busca imitar los reflejos del metal eran de común utilización en carteles y colectivos (bondis) durante el siglo XX.

En 2009 cuando era joven, tenía mucha energía e hice esta fuente, todavía había bastantes bondis circulando por Buenos Aires con leyendas y dibujos hechos por artistas del filete y me inspiraron a hacerla.

No está super pulida (verán algunos problemas de kerning en algunos pares de letras), pero la encontré recientemente en mis CDs y DVDs de backup y le tengo cariño.
